About us

Our Story

We are a community of individuals who share a common goal: to promote patient-centred and evidence-based approaches to chronic pain management. Our mission is to advocate and educate on behalf of people living with chronic pain, particularly those who live with severe, disabling, daily pain and rely on opioid medications as a key component of their treatment plan.

As a patient-led organization, we understand firsthand the challenges and stigma associated with chronic pain. Despite the overwhelming evidence supporting the use of opioids for severe chronic pain, these medications have been unfairly demonized in recent years. This has resulted in a public health crisis, with many patients being forced to taper off effective treatments or being denied access to appropriate care altogether.

We are committed to changing this narrative. We believe that all individuals living with chronic pain deserve access to safe, effective, and compassionate care. To this end, we engage in a range of activities designed to promote awareness, education, and policy change.

TO BE CLEAR we are not blindly PRO-Opioid, we are pro-pain management and pro evidence based care. MOST people will never require long term opioid therapy and most people should NOT be prescribed long term opioid therapy. However, for a small group of people, opioids are essential to manage constant, severe, intractable pain. For these people, opioids need to be avaiable until science provides better alternatives
